Traditionally, weddings have been planned and personalized using favorite flowers and colors. These days a new tradition is taking over – personalizing your wedding with three magical words: Location, Location, and Location. It’s called a “Destination Wedding” and it’s the fastest-growing trend in the industry.

If you are planning a destination wedding, you must send a “Save the Date” announcement that includes an itinerary of events as well as travel and hotel information, and other fun information about local attractions, activities and weather to the guests, 6-8 month prior to the wedding.

In addition, you need to mention “invitation to follow” somewhere in the announcement. You must follow up with an invitation to everyone on your Save the Date list, even if you know they are unable to attend.

Make sure your wedding will be legal once you return to the United States, or have a civil wedding at home first and celebrate your party abroad.
