Jamaica's Beauty: In Front and Behind the Camera

Super model Ingledew on her marriage and new book release

Lois Samuels Ingledew is more than a beautiful super model – she is an artist and a passionate person with a will to make a difference in her homeland, Jamaica. Lois has had an illustrious career gracing the pages of such magazines as Essence, New York Times Fashion Magazine, Vogue and other fashion publications and starring in ad campaigns for Nordstrom and Saks Fifth Avenue. But her super model fame only touches the surface of the depth of her character and her talent – not just in front of the camera, but behind it.

Lois has just released her second book entitled “Jamaica Through My Eyes.” This book is a treasure and a joy – a true and heartwarming slice of life of her native Jamaica. Lois is able to capture the beauty and soul of the people as they go about their everyday lives. Lois intends to donate proceeds from exhibitions to the Malo Josiah Ingledew Foundation, named after her son, dedicated to helping underprivileged children in Jamaica with basic educational necessities.

Lois is married to British husband, Mark, a financial advisor. The couple first met in London at a small party, then twice on the streets of Paris, then later again in New York. They were wed in October 2000 and are a beautiful cross-cultural union. WBM asked Lois what advice she had to offer our readers in regard to weddings, and this is what she had to say: “Keep it small, simple, and intimate.”

Their honeymoon was truly serendipitous! Without planning a thing, the newlyweds arrived at the airport and booked the first flight to anywhere. That flight happened to be to Israel and they loved it!

Watching the couple interact with each other is priceless. Mark admits his lack of ability to function in the fashion world, but he whole-heartedly offers his support for anything she needs to promote her love and passion for photography. They manage to juggle each others’ careers around their true love and gem, Malo, their son.
